Law firm Cripps has further strengthened its family team following the qualification of associate Katy-Louise Allen as a family mediator. She is the second member of the team to qualify and joins head of family law Alex Davies as a trained mediator.

“Mediation is an alternative to the court process and I am now able to help separating couples resolve disputes between themselves, which is a far more cost effective option than court proceedings,” she said. “This is especially important when deciding on arrangements for children and finances.

“I am also a qualified collaborative solicitor, which involves arranging for couples meet together with their respective lawyers in order to work things out face to face, again avoiding the need to resort to the courts.

“Both mediation and collaborative law aim to resolve disputes on relationship breakdown, making the process as painless as possible and removing the uncertain outcome of court proceedings.”
Katy-Louise was also acknowledged as being one of the best young lawyers in the country in the recent Citywealth Future Leaders together with family law colleague Claire Tollefson.

The family team at Cripps deals with many challenging cases involving complex assets and trusts, often involving inherited wealth, businesses and land. With many overseas clients it has extensive experience of cross-border tax and succession planning and can tap into the skills and resources of lawyers across the world through its membership of Marcalliance, an international alliance of independent law firms.

Cripps has been based in Tunbridge Wells since it was founded in 1852 and has recently moved into new offices in the town centre where 300 staff are based. It also has offices in Kings Hill and London.
