When married couples separate, and finances, living arrangements and children are at stake, it can take six to eighteen months to resolve matters in court. A course of family mediation can often achieve the same in a matter of weeks or a few months and at a fraction of the cost.
Family mediation services are a proven and effective way to reach an amicable settlement as painlessly as possible.
Our skilled family mediators help you make the right decisions about your future. We work alongside both parties, keep communication channels open, listen to both sides of the argument, and help you reach a dignified agreement while keeping acrimony and costs to a minimum.
Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) is now mandatory before most family proceedings can be commenced at court and can sometimes be conducted over the phone or by Skype. In that meeting we explain your options and advise whether mediation is suitable. If both parties agree to proceed, we tell you how long, and how costly, mediation is likely to be.
Three to six family mediation sessions are usually required to reach an agreement. Each session typically lasts for two hours at a cost of £600 including VAT per couple plus the cost of analysing or preparing documents between meetings. This timeframe is flexible though – some couples may need longer, while others will settle sooner.
Our family mediation services are there to achieve a fair outcome. Our team are qualified, practicing family solicitors who use their knowledge of the law to resolve matters swiftly and amicably.
We act with impartiality, honesty and empathy throughout – helping you to move on with your life.
