New Food and Drink blog
Welcome to our new Food and Drink blog. As a team dedicated to advising the food and drink sector on legal issues that affect it, we are launching a blog to share our knowledge and experience.
We will be blogging tips, guidance and updates which we hope will be useful for those working in or with businesses in the food and drink industry. I head up the food and drink team and specialise in employment law but look forward to seeing blog posts from all members of the team covering areas including commercial dispute resolution, intellectual property, commercial property, debt recovery, agriculture, employment, and corporate and commercial law.
The sector faces many legal issues and new challenges as a result of increased regulation, the proposed introduction of the sugar tax in 2018, supermarket pricing pressures, the introduction of the National Living Wage and the current uncertainty as a result of Brexit. The industry is particularly affected by recent legislation designed to combat human trafficking and modern slavery. It has never been more important for businesses to know their supply chain and maintain transparency and records as there will be scrutiny up and down the supply chain. Despite these issues the food and drink sector continues to be one of the most innovative as businesses look to develop growth with new products and target new overseas markets. Many are taking a collaborative approach by sharing their knowledge and skills and reducing their risks by working together.
