Iain Benson

Legal Director

I am experienced in advising on all of the non-contentious aspects of construction law which may arise during the course of a UK construction project, from the early procurement stage onwards.

The bulk of my work and experience involves drafting, negotiating and advising on the wide gambit of documents which have to be agreed to get a development project off the ground.

Over the past 20 years, I am fortunate in having worked on some landmark building and infrastructure projects both as a solicitor in private practice; in London, and in-house; for one of the UKs top ten Main Contractors. This experience has afforded me a great overview of the industry and a keen understanding of the needs of all key stakeholders involved in the delivery of successful construction project. It has fostered in me, I am told, “a pragmatic, solution based approach to getting the job done”.

I am lucky in that I really enjoy want I do; you meet a lot of positive, clever and interesting people in construction who are generally very committed to achieving pretty impressive projects and not always in the easiest of circumstances. Being part of that process and adding value is what gives me a kick.
