A commercial property lawyer with many years’ experience, I now work as a consultant at Cripps Pemberton Greenish. I have two roles: one is to train other our lawyers on SDLT (Stamp Duty Land Tax); and the other is to advise our clients on SDLT in real estate transactions.
Property transactions involve two or more interested parties – getting them to agree, explaining the issues in plain language, solving the problems, and seeing deals through to completion are all very rewarding activities.
I believe that clear communication (which involves listening as well as speaking) is at the heart of good legal advice, and that goes for dealing with colleagues as well as clients.
