And they’re under starter’s orders….
The Property Race Day is an annual event organised by the property industry as both a unique networking event and a very successful fundraiser, generating over £1M for its chosen charities to date (this year LandAid and a number of children’s charities, including The Children’s Trust).
Freddie, sporting the orange Cripps Pemberton Greenish logo, took part in the amateur race which involves a dash down the famous mile straight with 11 competitors from the property industry on licensed race horses. If that wasn’t scary enough, qualification for the event required each jockey to pass the rigorous British Racing School fitness test and raise a minimum of £5,000 in sponsorship. But for Freddie, normally more likely to be found on the polo field, the chance to race on the same track that Frankel set alight was an opportunity she couldn’t resist.
Following an afternoon of mixed fortunes at the bookmakers for Freddie’s fan club, the main event got underway. The field was very tight for the first ½ mile, but as the horses got into their stride gaps appeared and eventually Tom Faber from Savills was able to secure a comfortable win. Freddie came in a very creditable 6th.
