Residential notice period changes

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the notice periods a landlord had to give when serving a notice on a residential tenant in order to obtain possession of their property were increased.  Those changes are now being gradually reversed and from 1 June 2021, the notice periods a landlord must give when serving a section 8 or section 21 notice has been reduced.  This article by Hardwicke Chambers gives a useful summary of the changes made, both during the pandemic as well as the most recent reduction which now applies, for landlords and their lawyers alike.
