Making a will
The recent COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing measures that reduced contact with family and loved ones brought into focus the importance of an up-to-date will, to ensure those nearest to you are looked after in the best possible way.
We have adapted the way we work to ensure our clients continue to get the very best advice in whatever way is comfortable for them. Our lawyers all have access to video and conference facilities or can conduct safe face-to-face meetings. We are available via email and phone to talk you through the process of drafting a will from end to end. When it comes to witnessing your will, our lawyers will work with you to find a safe and secure way of doing this.
Our specialist private wealth lawyers will get to know you and your specific circumstances and work with you to ensure your wishes are clearly documented. We will structure your assets in a way that ensures peace of mind for you and your family.
If your circumstances are complicated, for example you have assets abroad, we will help you to negotiate any hurdles and propose the most practical structure and tax-efficient path. We will consider all eventualities and help you select your executors and trustees.

- Advising a client who was unsure exactly when and how he wanted his family to benefit on death. He made a will with a discretionary trust of the residue which gave his executors the flexibility to wait until the client’s death to set up the trusts in line with a letter of wishes from the client.
- Advising clients on a second marriage and who have children by a first relationship, how to make their will so as to provide financial protection for the new spouse but, at the same time, ensuring that the children are the ultimate beneficiaries.
- Advising clients who are non-domiciled in the UK and who own property both here and abroad how best to structure their wills. This often involves complex issues covering a number of difference jurisdictions.
