NQ Life – Advisory (September 2016)
Considering a career in Private Client? This week we hear from newly qualified solicitor Francesca Sassoli, who discusses her role in the Advisory team at Cripps Pemberton Greenish and what inspired her to pursue a career in law.
1. Describe your role and area of expertise.
I assist individual clients to organise their affairs and plan for the future. My expertise lies in providing advice in relation to Wills, tax planning, lasting powers of attorney, the administration of estates and trust creation. I am currently on secondment to our Trust and Asset Management Team where I am assisting with the day to day running of 270 active trusts.
2. What do you find most interesting about your work?
I enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories. I often come across some interesting family dynamics when drafting Wills and enjoy helping clients to find a solution which best reflects their wishes.
3. What inspired you to pursue a career in law?
My first legal work experience was with the Crown Prosecution Service when I was 12. I watched a trial and found it fascinating. I liked the idea of being able to apply a set of rules to a situation to solve a problem (although I soon learnt that it is not often this straightforward in practice!)
4. How has your life changed since qualification and how did you find the transition from trainee to NQ?
Life post-qualification has been a steep learning curve. Managing your own case load can be challenging but also satisfying as you know you are fully responsible for the results you achieve.
5. What is your favourite thing about working for Cripps Pemberton Greenish?
The people – my team have a good sense of humour which makes for an enjoyable working environment. I also enjoy a two minute commute to the office!
