Personal data use in marketing: a changing landscape

Rapidly developing technology has presented businesses with a raft of new ways to market themselves to potential customers, in particular by collecting and processing individuals’ personal data. Of course, legally this requires their consent, and the Information Commissioner’s Office has been keeping up with these new practices by imposing increasingly tough regulations and cracking down on any organisations that overstep the line.

Whether you’re a business, a not-for-profit or an individual, the landscape of data protection is changing and it’s well worth keeping up-to-date with what organisations are allowed to do.
