Webinar: Insolvency Insights – Implications of the Bresco case

12 January, 2021
by: Cripps Pemberton Greenish

Date: Wednesday 20 January 2021
Time: 11am-12pm

We are pleased to invite you to the first of a series of webinars focused on key points and legal issues arising out of recent developments in insolvency law.

The first in our Insolvency Insights series will be a panel discussion on the implications of the ground-breaking Supreme Court decision in Bresco Electrical Services Ltd v Michael J Lonsdale (Electrical) Ltd [2020] UKSC 25.

The decision is important as it finally confirms that insolvent companies involved in disputes arising under a construction contract have an unfettered right to refer disputes for adjudication. This clarified previous uncertainty created by an earlier decision, which restrained the liquidators of Bresco from pursuing adjudication and deprived insolvent companies of an important mechanism for debt recovery.

Joanna Ford will chair a discussion between experts in their fields Marcus Angell, construction senior associate at Cripps, Vince Green, partner and insolvency practitioner at Crowe U.K. LLP, and Duncan Hughes-Phillips, CEO at Base Quantum, chartered quantity surveyors in the construction industry.  The session will be informative and practical, with the opportunity for Q&A at the end.

This webinar will be held on Zoom, to register click here.
