How to avoid Will Disputes – discuss dying with your family

A recent survey of 2,000 adults undertaken on behalf of Dying Matters Coalition found that only:

– 21% of people had discussed their end of life wishes;
– 1/3 had written a Will; and
– 29% had let their family know about their funeral wishes.

A common factor in Will disputes is the failure to make or update a Will and to communicate your wishes to those likely to be effected by your death.

Even if the omission does not lead to someone contesting a Will, it can lead deep emotional wounds in those people left disappointed by the Will.
